"Honesty is the cornerstone of character. The honest man or woman seeks not merely to avoid criminal or illegal acts, but to be scrupulously fair, upright, fearless in both action and expression. Honesty pays dividends both in dollars and in peace of mind."
B.C Forbes

Reflection: I believe honesty is a big part of someone's personality. It not only defines you as a person, but also allows you to be better than others who aren't following this path. What came across my mind because of this quote, is that selflessness will be it's own reward. With honesty. you will feel better about many situations. For example, there was once a man who stole money from a Sears store and he never felt comfortable with himself until the day he decided to be honest and paid the store the money he took from the store decades ago. Moral of the story, is that choosing honesty is choosing the right.

"Stop worrying about whether you're going to win or lose and focus your full attention on what's happening right this moment."
Phil Jackson

Reflection: I believe this quote/ statement is used by optimists. This is about looking forward, making the best of things. People shouldn't worry too much about the future, it's coming anyway.. so why stress when you have plenty of time to change the feeling. For example, if you're going to have a game in a few weeks and you're stressing out over it.. then you're doing something wrong. Instead of worrying, you could've used your time practicing, training yourself to be better. Don't worry about much, just choose the right.

"Truth is the only safe ground to stand upon."
Elizabeth Cady Stanton

Reflection: What this quote means to me is something very simple, and it's been hear.. it's that the truth will set you free. When you're able to be an honest person, you won't be looked at with disgrace nor dishonor. Telling the truth will keep you out of trouble, or in some cases, it'll keep you out of more trouble. If someone was to make up a lie, you could catch it somehow, but if they kept making their liar even worse, then it's much easier to get the truth out of them. Lies will only lead you downhill. You must be wise and choose the correct path, choose the right.

"Everyone is the architect of their own learning."
Claudius
Reflection: I believe that the meaning of this quote is that everyone has a different form of understanding many things. For example, to get a good education, you might need to understand things differently.. depending on how comfortable you may be. There are people who are visual learning; they must see something in order to learn from it. Some people learn by listening to an instructor or a professor. The whole point of this quote is that you must explore the education system and see what helps you the most. You're unique, you will build your own learning techniques within little time without even trying so hard. All you need to do is choose the right.. you're an architecture of your own mind.

"Start with what is right rather than what is acceptable."
Peter F. Drucker
Reflection:  The meaning of this statement is always strive for the best. It's easier to do what is right rather than what you think is right. For example, trying to earn a C rather than an A in a class means you're not really trying hard. You must be able to reach the limit, and if possible, pass the limit. It's best to do what you know you're capable of doing. Choose the right.

"To be great- concentrate."
Orison Swett Marden

Reflection: In order to become something good, you must reach intelligence. That's what I think is the definition of this quote by Orison Swett Marden. With knowledge, comes power, with power, one becomes a great person.. just as long as you know your limits. I believe this quote is simple and straight to the point. Concentrating will take you far, it will help you find your true self.. giving you the opportunity to live a good, happy life. Concentration falls in the same category as intelligence, knowledge, and success.. With all of that, your life is set. You will become great one you concentrate. Choose the right.

"Education is a marathon- not a sprint."
Anon.

Reflection: I think this is an ambiguous quote. Meaning that you have to chase after knowledge, it won't be handed to you. Work for your future. In order to success, you must move forward. Falling behind shouldn't be an option. Many people realize that knowledge is the most important thing a little too late. It takes time to do something the correct way. You may be really close to the finish line, keep looking forward. Keep positive thoughts in your head at all times. You should always do your best and stick your head in the books, books that'll take you somewhere later on in your future. Don't let bad habits hamper with your success. Choose the right and achieve.

"The man who has no imagination has no wings."
Muhammad Ali

Reflection: What this statement is telling us, is that you need an imagination in order to move forward. An imagination will send you to a different world, it'll give you better idea, it'll take you to success. Without an imagination, your life is dull.. you have no where to go. Trying to be a better thinker will change for the best. The wings represent your future, they represent your destination. An imagination is what represents your thoughts, your actions. Just use your imagination to fly and to get to a different world, a better one for you.

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "Press on." has solved and always will solve the problem of the human race."
Calvin Coolidge, 30th president of the United States

Reflection: I believe this quote was said to encourage us Americans to keep on moving forward... because that's exactly what makes us very strong. In order to succeed, we will need determination. You need to be serious about your job and your future. To have a good life, you must choose the right. Nothing will ever be handed to you. You need to fight for your right, for your life, for your future. What this president is trying to tell us, is that persistence is key to a better life, a better world.

Herbert Kaufman

Reflection:  I believe this quote is to encourage us/ everyone to do their best. Failure is not an option, that's exactly why one shouldn't have to deal with the disappointment that failure puts in our lives. In order to live a good life, you must have good habits. Good habits will lead to positive vibes, your life will not only become simpler, but very enjoyable. Choose the right.

"To see what is right and not to do it is want of courage."
Confucius

Reflection: This quote is now so easy to understand when much thought it put to it. For example, it's an ambiguous quote. Wanting to do the right and not doing it is simply being dishonest. It's like witnessing a crime, but not doing much about it, continuing with your life as if nothing ever happened. To do the right is perfect, you will be rewarded by life later on in the future. CHOOSE THE RIGHT.

"Gold medals don't make champions, hard work does."
ANON

Reflection: This quote is very explicit. There' nothing to question about it. Hard work will pay off, all you need is to motivate yourself and reach the goal you have been aiming for. Trying your best will lead to success. Never give up. Olympic medalists have learned to put their mind to it. Without positiveness, this success couldn't have ever been achieved.

"The first law of success.... Is concentration; to bend all the energies to one point, and to go directly to that point, looking neither to the right nor to the left."
William Mathews

Reflection: Mr. Mathews chose the right. He knows exactly what he's saying. Concentrating will lead to a positive future. If you focus on one thing.. what your mind is set on, then you'll succeed and reach the goal you've been aiming for. Removing all those distracting thoughts from your head will let you pay attention to what you're supposed to. As long as you keep your mind on one thing, there won''t be anything else that will distract you. If you feel you're getting out of track, remind yourself what you're doing. Take a break, relax, then get back on it. Clear your mind, insert positive thoughts in your head, and concentrate on the stuff you're supposed to. Choose the right.

"Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow."
Robert Kiyosaki

Reflection: Based on the quote, life should be about the present. I believe Mr. Kiyosaki is trying to tell us to do things early, rather than later on in the future, simply because it's better to get things over them. I think his quote is inspiring, always do what's right especially before it's late. As long as you have all the time to do something, you should just go for it. You're going to do it anyway, right? Choose the right, never take your time on things that will be late.

NEVER
"There is no justification ever for choosing any part of what you know to be evil."
Ayn Rand
(novelist, philosopher, playwright, screenwriter)

Reflection: According to Ayn Rand and my teacher, Mr. Haymore, it's never an appropriate time to lie.. no matter what the situation is. Lying is obviously choosing the wrong, and I completely agree with both of these intelligent people. It may get you in trouble, but you have to deal with your own consequences. For example, lying to your parents will get you in a whole lot of  trouble simply because parents figure everything out.. sooner or later. Getting in trouble isn't worth it, it only wastes your freedom. You're supposed to be choosing the right.

5 Tips for Success
Tip 5

Tip 5: Keep a List Of Questions
When you feel confused about something you're reading, write down any questions you have. Sometimes your questions are answered as you read further. If not, don't be afraid to ask for help. Remember, teachers create assignments; they've read the texts and are familiar with them. When you have specific questions, your teachers can provide answers that will help you better understand the material. Learning is rooted in questions developed and asked by the learner.

Asking questions to yourself, to the teacher, and to others, is a great learning method. When you cease to ask questions, you cease to exist to a great extent. Read actively by silently asking questions as you read. Questioning immerses you into the material you are reading and therefore will expand your mental capacities more than almost anything else.

The philosopher Sir Francis Bacon said, "Knowledge is power." Improving your reading comprehension is the key to gaining important knowledge and making the most of your education. So pick up a book.. and a pen.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT!

"When I was teaching basketball, I urged my players to try their hardest to improve on that very day, to make that practice a masterpiece.
This rule is even more important in life than basketball. You have to apply yourself each day to become a little better. By applying yourself to the task of becoming a little better each and every day over a period of time, you will become a lot better. Only then will you be able to approach being the best you can be. It begins by trying to make each day count and knowing you can never make up for a lost day."
John Wooden
Reflection: I completely agree with his quote. The most meaningful part of this quote is when John mentioned "the most important rule".. simply because it's true. He is a very wise man and those words he spoke are nothing but the truth, in an optimist's point of view. He only want the best for everyone. As long as you improve yourself, day by day, you'll make a difference. If you push yourself to do your best, you'll reach your goal eventually only because you are better than how you were yesterday. Setting goals is what can help you reach your destination even quicker! You'll have something to look forward to. Choose the right.
