"Everyone is the architect of their own learning."
Claudius
Reflection: I believe that the meaning of this quote is that everyone has a different form of understanding many things. For example, to get a good education, you might need to understand things differently.. depending on how comfortable you may be. There are people who are visual learning; they must see something in order to learn from it. Some people learn by listening to an instructor or a professor. The whole point of this quote is that you must explore the education system and see what helps you the most. You're unique, you will build your own learning techniques within little time without even trying so hard. All you need to do is choose the right.. you're an architecture of your own mind.

Online Learning
Part 2

More Tips
Finally, look beyond the article for more clues.
  • Read the website's home page and the About Us page. Look for a mission statement to learn more about the site, its purpose and the organization sponsoring it.
  • If there is an author listed, look for a biography that discusses the author's education, profession, and other relevant background. If there is no bio on the site, search for one elsewhere on the web.
  • Check the date. Facts can change over time, so see if the site shows when it was last updated.
  • Presentation counts; look at everything from design to spelling. A clean, well-organized site shows a certain degree of professionalism.
  • Avoid sites that are pornographic vulgar, inappropriate, below par, suggestive and falsifying.

"The Three Nevers:
Never lie
Never cheat
Never steal"
-John Wooden

Reflection: Life should be lived on by John Wooden's quote. It's a basic point that everybody should get through their head. If you don't cheat, nor steal, then there'll be no need to lie. Those three "nevers" should be paid attention to. That's choosing the wrong. Doing any of those three will only get you in trouble and will affect your life drastically. If you get used to doing it so often, it won'[t feel like much to you, but in reality.. you're only getting yourself in deeper trouble. It's unfair to yourself, and it's unfair to others as well. Not only are you cheating yourself, but for example, the people around you who are there to learn from your steps. Always do what's best for each other, tell the truth no matter what the consequences are. Never cheat, find a way to reach your goal, just make sure it's done the right way. Last but not least, never steal, you can always find a way to earn your own things.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens (6)

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens
Habit 6

Habit 6: Synergize
Synergize is achieved when two or more people work together to create something better than either could alone. Through this habit, teens learn it doesn't have to be "your way" or "my way" but rather a better way, a higher way. Synergy allows teens to value differences and better appreciate others. Synergy is the reward, the delicious fruit you'll taste as you get better at living the other habits, especially at thinking. Win-Win and seeking first to understand. Learning to synergize is like learning to form V formations with others instead of trying to fly through life solo. You'll be amazed at how much faster and farther you'll go. Synergy doesn't just happen. It's a process. You have to get there. And the foundation of getting there is this: Learn to celebrate differences.

A good band is a great example of synergy. It's not just the drums,or the guitarm or the sax,or the vocalist, it's all of them together that make up the "sound". Each band member brings his or her strengths to the table to create something better than each could alone. No instrument is more important than another, just different.

...owns or has easy access to a computer with Internet access and e-mail.

You don't have to be a computer expert to be successful in online learning- but you must have access to a personal computer with reliable internet access, as well as a basic level of competency in using them. Owning a computer with internet access from your home is ideal but many students use the computer labs on campus or at their offices to complete their work.
...has basic computer skills and is willing and open to learning new ones

Profile of a Successful Student (1)

Profile of a Successful Student
Part 1
A successful student...
... takes responsibility for his/her own learning
Online learning can be a powerful, stimulating, engaging experience for the student who can work and think independently. However, since most- if not all- of the learning takes place on your own time, you will not have the kind of direct supervision you would in a classroom. Online learning therefore requires a significant commitment from you. All education comes down to what you're willing to invest in the experience- this is particularly true in the online environment. Commitment, self discipline and self motivation are all key qualities to ensuring success in an online course!
... is comfortable and confident with written communication
Reading and writing are the basis of most online courses, so it's critical that you feel comfortable with this form of communication. While some courses contain modules that include videos or other activities, all of them require significant amounts of reading. And nearly all of your communication with your classmates and your instructor will be in writing. If these are weak areas for you, you will want to address those issues prior to enrolling or while enrolling in an online course. The PSU WRITING CENTER is available to assist you.
... is willing to be a member of an online community.
