Student Success Statement
"The Three Don'ts
Don't whine
Don't complain
Don't make excuses"
John Wooden

Reflection: John Wooden was a very smart man with positive and encouraging thoughts. With his "3 Don'ts", people should live an organized life. For example, without whining, you;ll be able to get stuff done in a matter of hours, maybe minutes. You're just making it harder for yourself. Without complaining, you'll be able to encourage yourself to keep on striving. AND most importantly, don't make excuses! Making excuse will only slow you down, you need to try, do your best. John Wooden's quote should encourage people to keep on moving, those three don'ts will only make you fall behind.

"Be always sure you're right, then go ahead."

-Davy Crockett

Reflection: To me, this quote means much. As long as you think about your decision, then you'll probably do a good job. When you think about something, the right thoughts will come to your head BUT you must take your time. If you pay little attention to the choice you're about to make, there's a big chance it would be a mistake and you'll end up regretting it. If you think you're right about something, then speak your mind. If your "right" thought isn't correct, then just learn from your previous mistake.

"You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right."
 Rosa Parks

Reflection: This quote has a very important message and that is do what's right even when people are against your thoughts. Speaking the truth may get you in trouble at times, but it's the only correct thing to do. For example, Rosa Parks stood up for herself and her race. Even tho at the time it wasn't a "correct thing to do", she knew what she was doing was going to help others. Don't be scared of the right thing to do when people don't feel the same way about it.. speak up, there's a chance you'll be helping many more people in a similar situation.

"In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing."
Theodore Roosevelt
Reflection: This quote, to me, lets me know that the right choice is ours. Whenever you have the chance, all you need to do is choose the right. The right will lead you into a direction/ path that not many people have been on. You must learn from your mistakes, and do what's best when possible. For example, if you find $1,000 on the floor, the right thing to do is to turn them in. You could've had the chance to take them, but it wasn't right.. so you chose the right.

"Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it's right. These are the 3 magic keys to living your life with integrity."
W. Clement Stone

Reflection: In order to live the life you want, you must be able to say "no" when you don't agree, you'll have to deal with the truth and obviously, you'll have to choose the right. The choices you make will affect YOUR future. Don't always rely on others. Most of the time, you're the only one who knows what's best for yourself. For example, if you do what others want you to do and you're not happy with the outcome.. that'd be considered a waste of time. That's why you must choose the right, live your life by those three magic keys.

Selecting Your Courses (3)

Selecting Your Courses
                             Part 3

Science
Science teaches you to think analytically and apply theories to reality. Colleges want to see that you've taken at least three years of laboratory science classes. A good combination includes two semesters of each of the following sciences:
·       Biology
·       Chemistry or physics
·       Earth/space science

More competitive schools expect you to take four years of lab science courses. You can add two of the following subjects:
·       Chemistry or physics (the science you didn't already study)
·       Advanced biology
·       Advanced  chemistry
·       Advanced physics

Effective Study Methods (2)

Effective Study Methods
Part 2
My time management secret: My secret is to use time wisely. I know that on certain days I do not have time to run errands or hang out with friends. Each minute of the day is used for something. One thing that works really well for me is to write everything down. I mean everything. I write down if I am going to email people, write letters, or study. It works for me to have a planner that goes by the day and shows me what I am going to be doing every day. Knowing what I have to do every day helps me plan out my week and my days. If I know that I won’t have time on Tuesday, I will try to get more things done on Monday or Sunday. I plan ahead, especially if I am going to be on the road for volleyball. When I am on the road, I bring my books and read on the bus./plane/ hotel room. Missing class is killer to make up from, but if you are upfront with your professors, they are usually nice about having to turn things in late or not being in class.
